a step to the side

been trying out some new stuff and i'm not sure where to dump it so i guess it's going here, in my chronically neglected, mostly unseen blog. if anyone's still watching, enjoy!

new art and developments

i know it's been a long while, so i thought i'd post a batch of what i've been working on lately. i also just set up a tumblr specifically for my architectural work. it's kind of an excuse to keep doing the kind of work i did for REBUILT. check it out here:

for starters, here's a brand new cover for awakening issue 7!

REBUILT

my first solo show debuted last night and was a great success! it was good to see so many familiar faces and well wishers. here's just a few of the new pieces i did for the show.

this blog needs to be updated more frequently! luckily i have a pretty big stockpile of art to post so there will be more new stuff soon.

another nerdy update

just a quick update this time. The Hellboy show at brave new worlds last friday was our first without Joe-big-pappa-Game and it went well! lots of great work and friendly faces. here's my piece for the show, and a few unrelated sketches.

Poe and Raoh, brothers separated by time/fiction

a sampling of some of my favorite Poes from the Art In the Age show up now at their flagship store, and a few that were a bit too silly to make it into the show. I wanted to do a bunch of slightly different versions so that every print is a bit different. Also, gives me a chance to play around with the same image for hours which is of course what i love to do.

lastly, a nerdy little Raoh illustration (of fist of the north star fame). this little guy was a lot of fun. i can only hope i did the fist proud!a very colorful post this time, huh?

animal maaadness!

this update is a bit late, i know. been trying to clear some of the work off my pate before attending to the blog. well to make up for it, i've come up with a kickass "theme" to this post: animals!
for starters here's a little taste of what i've been working on. the birds are from a brand new Awakening page i just finished. i'm pretty happy with those little guys.

here's an extra crazy tshirt design for my good buddy Andre of Blowupnihilist/abominable iron sloth.

and finally, here's a very nearly finished cover for the debut album from Sarasota, things alive. this one was a blast. check out his entire album for free at his website: www.sarasotatheband.com

the haunting of derek stone

at last, all 4 initial Derek Stone books are out! it feels like an eternity since i finished these up, but it's really exciting to see them all printed and official looking.

in other good news, i saw ponyo this weekend and while definitely a step in a new direction, still totally satisfied my high expectations. I honestly don't know how any artist couldn't be at least a LITTLE inspired by seeing Miyazaki's work on the big screen so go breath this one in! if nothing else it's really encouraging to see an artist still taking chances and trying new things at his age.
